Kid and Parent Friendly Content Standards for English Language Arts

Standard Description
1.0 Reading: Word Analysis, Fluency, and Systematic Vocabulary Development
1.1 I can match a spoken word to a printed word.
1.2 I can identify the title and author of a book.
1.3 I can identify letters, words, and sentences.
1.4 I can tell the first, middle and last sound of a one-syllable word.
1.5 I can tell if a word has a short or long vowel sound when I hear the word.
1.6 I can rhyme, and I can make rhymes with consonant blends.
1.7 I can change a word into a new word by adding, removing, or changing a sound.
1.8 I can blend sounds to make a word (for example, /c/a/t/ = cat.
1.9 I can say all the sounds in a word.
1.10/ 1.12 I can give the sound for all the spellings on the sound spelling cards, and I can blend those sounds to read words.
